The traditional ruler of Seikwa in the Bono Ahafo Region, Nana Kweku Gyimah Akoana has been gunned down allegedly by an unknown assailant.
The chief was killed at about 8pm, Monday night at the backyard of his private residence. The alleged killer did not take anything from the house.
Nana Kweku Gyimah Akoana had just returned from a function and was relaxing on his veranda when he was shot, according to Joshua Baidoo, the administrator of Seikwa Stool.
He said Nana Akoana prior to the incident, had received death threats from persons unknown to him days after his two vehicles were burnt down some three months back.
He said on 'Badwam' on Adom TV, Tuesday, a report was lodged with the Berekum Municipal police but little was heard from them until Monday's incident.
He said the death of the chief could have been prevented if the police were swift with their investigations.
Meanwhile, the Brekum Municipal Commander, DSP Asare Badiako said investigations were ongoing and called for support from the people to bring the perpetrators to book. DSP Asare Badiako however suspects the assailant might have used a revolver gun to commit the crime.
