Ghanaian born musician Theophilus Tagoe known widely as Castro Destroyer or Underfire has stated he prays the Holy Spirit touches him to switch his musical gears to propagating the good word of the Holy Bible.
There has been an the insurgence of many Ghanaian hiplife artists converting into Christianity.
Lord Kenya aka Abraham Philip Kojo Akpor Kainya was the first hiplife artiste to win the coveted Artiste of the Year prize at the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) in the year 2000. But three years ago, he quit the industry to start preaching the gospel after he had had “a personal encounter with God”.
Mzbel, another hiplife artiste known for provocative dresses and lewd lyrics has vowed to ditch her risque lyrics and revealing clothes for gospel and inspirational music.
In what could possibly be another big fish for the Christian faith, Castro in an interview with NY DJ on the Kapital Entertainment Unplugged Show has made some revealing statements.
Castro who is currently out with the number one hit high life single in Ghana 'Odo Pa', Castro disclosed although he is affiliated with popular female Gospel music group Tagoe sisters, he is no rush to do gospel songs.
According to him, he is hoping the Holy Spirit touches him anytime soon.
Answering a question as to why he would not follow her aunties’ footsteps, he disclosed saying; "I think that is what God gave them and I know as time goes on, I will join them by all means. That is what I am praying for"
Castro revealed "I already have a Gospel song I’m working on".
Touching on the working relations with Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, Castro disclosed Asamoah Gyan was more like a brother and that made it so easy for them to churn hit tracks anytime they recorded together.
"I wish you would be around us anytime we go to the studio, he understands me more than anyone since we grew together so that makes thing very easy for us", Castro said.
