Video: Dzifa Gomashie wins Ketu South primaries

Veteran actress Dzifa Gomashie has won the bid to represent the Ketu South constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections. Madam Gomashie, who was the former Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture under erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration, beat four other candidates to win the slot. She dispatched Paul Nyavi, a teacher; Nicholas Worclashie, a lecturer; Caroline Dukuh-Parker; and Fogah Nuku to annex the slot. After the votes were counted, the veteran actress won 586 votes with her closest contender, Fogah Nuku, polling 555 votes. Nicholas Worclashie, Paul Nyavi and Caroline Dukuh-Parker all had 302, 294 and 109 votes respectively. JoyNews’ Ivy Setordzi, who monitored the polls in the Ketu South constituency, reported that “Before she was declared winner the agent for Fogah requested that the votes be recounted.”  Asked if the victor had made any comments, Ivy said Dzifa Gomashie “is nowhere to be found. She has not been seen around yet.” Some 524 aspirants gunning to become Parliamentary candidates of the NDC across 157 constituencies in the country.  NDC, Ghana’s largest opposition party, is voting Saturday to select those who will represent its constituencies in the 2020 election.
