President John Mahama is optimistic that the 2014 budget would make the country’s economy robust in the year ahead.
"Many initiatives have been taken under the budget to strengthen the economy and make Ghana's economy robust and there are several projects that we are going to undertake under the 2014 budget," he noted.
He however, admited that 2013 has been a difficult year for his government, but said they are not discouraged as his government will press on to achieve their desired goal.
"We know what our objective is and we are going to press on until we achieve that objective", President Mahama assured.
The president was speaking at the Bolgatanga Jubilee Park, Thursday, November 21, as part of his nationawide tour to inspect ongoing developmental projects.
Despite the difficulties encountered by his administration in respect of the economy, the energy crisis - popularly called "Dum so Dum so" -, strikes from various professional groups as well as "mysterious" market fires, President Mahama noted that the country has been able to survive.
According to him, the economy is responding to the measure that had been presented in the budget recently read in Parliament.
"Despite that, we have manage to be resilient about the survival of our country and as I said the Minister of Finance has just presented a budget to Parliament and the economy is responding to the various measures that we have taken," the President noted.
