The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly says its two weeks operation of the Kejetia Terminal in Kumasi has revealed its former managers FREKO FD under-declared revenue generated from management of the terminal.

FREKO FD according to the KMA, was paying the assembly, 85,000 Ghana cedis monthly as its 30 per cent share of revenue.

FREKO was contracted by the Assembly in 2010 manage the bus terminal and keep 62% of revenue while the KMA takes 28%. The KMA took over management of the Kejetia Terminal from FREKO FD about two weeks ago citing breach of contract and lack of transparency and accountability.

Freda Darko, Manageress of FREKO FD Ltd subsequently filed a motion in court to challenge the KMA action. The court, presided over by Emmanuel Amo Yartey, ordered the KMA to halt interference in FREKO'S operations.

But the Mayor’s office says since taking over the Kejetia Terminal, they are realizing over 10,000 thousand Ghana cedis daily as revenue.

Samuel Gyamfi, Spokesperson for Mayor Kojo Bonsu has told Luv Fm’s Erastus Asare Donkor that, the assembly’s continuous occupation of the terminal has been sanctioned by its lawyers despite an injunction sought by FREKO FD.

"Our lawyers have also filed some processes in court to set aside the writ of summons of the woman [FREKO FD] and also to stay execution of the court injunction", Mr. Gyamfi stated.
