A high court in Kumasi in the Ashanti region, has given city authorities five days to return management of the Kejetia Lorry Terminal to private managers, FREKO FD.
The decision reinforces an earlier interim injunction restraining the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) from taking over the facility.
This followed objections raised by lawyers for Freko to KMA's request before the court, seeking a stay of execution, when it failed to comply with the court's order.
The two institutions have been locked up in a legal feud since the assembly forcibly ejected FREKO from the facility last month, citing breach of contract.
However, Samuel Gyamfi, spokesperson for the mayor told Luv Fm’s Erastus Asare Donkor that the KMA will abide by the decision of the court as they file an appeal against the decision.
According to Mr. Gyamfi, the KMA will also file other processes in the case since the assembly thinks it has the right to still occupy the Kedjetia terminal until the appeal is heard.
