The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) says subscribers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) are not affected by new fees being charged by service providers.
Some healthcare providers this week began charging new rates following the recent approval of the Fees and Charges (Amendment) Instrument 2013 by Parliament.
But the NHIA in a release on Tuesday said holders of the NHIA should expect quality care at its accredited facilities at no extra cost.
"The NHIA wishes to state that the new fees do not affect subscribers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Therefore, NHIS card holders who visit Korle Bu and other NHIS accredited health service providers should expect quality care for conditions covered under the Scheme at no extra cost".
The release signed by Communications Manager Selorm Adonoo entreated NHIS cardholders to contact the NHIA should they experience any difficulties.
"Subscribers who face any difficulty at any NHIS accredited healthcare facility should call the NHIS Call Centre on 0544 44 6447," the statement said.
