The Ashanti Regional Security Council has condemned the "shoot and kill" order given by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem constituency to his constituents, whenever cattle belonging to Fulani herdsmen invade their farms.

According to him, the comment has the potential of inciting residents to commit murder.

Speaking to Joy News Thursday, the Regional Security Liaison Officer, Bimpong Marfo noted that security personnel will be deployed to the area to deal with the problem confronting the people in the Agogo area.

"The district security council brought the issue of the Asante Akyem-North to our knowledge. Normally, during the dry season, they drift from the corridor and get onto the farms. So each year, we have such incidence.

"So, when our attention was drawn to this, we had a meeting with the farmers and the district security council at the regional security council level and certain measures had been put in place to send back the troops that they had asked us to withdraw", Bimpong Marfo intimated.

The Regional Security Council expressed its concern after the outburst of MP, Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, who says the eleven-member military and police task force set up last year, at the instance of the Security Council to investigate the Agogo Fulani herdsmen menace, had not achieved the desired results.

"We will not sit there for these Fulani herdsmen to use their cattle to destroy what we have used our hard earned money to establish. So, I am admonishing that if they come to your farm, shoot and kill them. As an evidence, let them be on the farm and the security [personnel] will come and see. It will be an evidence that the cattle are still there", the MP advised.

The investigative team was to ensure the relocation of the cattle to the Afram Plains area, after residents complained about the destructions the cattle are causing to their farms

However, Mr. Bimpong Marfo noted that the Security Council met the known cattle owners last week and warned them to withdraw their cattle from the farms.
