The Afienya Police have arrested a man and his accomplice who attempted to transport a human skull from the Volta Region to Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.
The two persons, Simon Yovou, 34, a fetish priest, and Thomas Dodzie Nodzi, 38, who is unemployed, are both residents of Afienya.
Reports say Thomas was transporting the skull from Agortime Wudome in the Volta Region to Kumasi, when he was apprehended in Accra by the police upon a tip off.
The human part had been sent to the Forensic Laboratory for further confirmation.
Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, Dodowa District Police Commander who confirmed the arrest to Daily Guide explained that a combined team of the Highway Patrol and Dodowa District Police arrested Simon with the skull aboard a commercial bus travelling from Agortime Kpotoe in the Volta Rgion to Accra.
Upon reaching a section of the Akosombo-Tema Highway near Afienya, the bus was stopped by the police, for checks on passengers and their luggages.
A few minutes into the checks, the police found the skull hidden in Simon's bag.
The police subsequently arrested Thomas after Simon had mentioned his name during interrogation.
The police interrogation also revealed that the skull was to be delivered to a certain Dzabaku, a fetish priest at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Superintendent Ofori further added that efforts by the Agortime Police and the Dodowa District Police to locate where the suspects got the skull from proved futile, as they failed to divulge further information.
The police is, therefore, appealing to the public to furnish them with information which could lead to the arrest of Dzabaku for prosecution.
