Pupils from Kindergarten (K.G) 1 to Primary 6 will on Wednesday, October 29, take a break from school, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced.
The holiday marks the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) day for teachers.
The day is set aside for the training of teachers as well as provide them with professional skills.
In a statement signed by Head of Public Relations Unit of the GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said teachers are to take the day off class schedules to enable them to participate fully in the training and professional development program.
Parents are, however, entreated to take note and act in accordance with the development.
The Continuous Professional Development has been formally adopted into the Academic Calendar to allow teachers upgrade themselves with requisite knowledge and skills in the teaching profession.
According to the GES, the effort is to improve its workforce, improve teaching and learning outcomes as well as enhance the image of the teaching profession.
The CPD day will be held four times in a year and Wednesday marks its maiden edition.
