Founder of IMANI Ghana Franklin Cudjoe has been acquitted of charges levelled against him by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust.
He was summoned to court on charges that his company had failed to pay the SSNIT contributions of his workers.
SSNIT among other things requested the IMANI founder to produce the payroll documents of his staff to the court.
IMANI presented the documents, a situation which forced the prosecution to request for time to study the documents.
The Defence Counsel Akoto Ampaw argued that SSNIT had no sound basis to prefer charges against his clients and prayed the court to acquit him.
The prosecution while praying for time also alleged the think tank was not properly registered.
But Ampaw accused the prosection of shifting goal post and appealed to his Worship to dismiss the case.
The Accra District Court presided over by His Worship Charles Boateng upheld the arguements by the defence and threw out the case for lack of evidence.
Akoto Ampaw told Joy News, the verdict is a vindication of their strongly held position that SSNIT was up to some mischief.
"It shows a malevolent attitude towards IMANI. Because here you are, you have a SSNIT which in a letter dated 4th of February 2014 saying that you have up to the 7th of February 2014 to produce some documents.
"Whilst that letter was being written you had already preferred charges on the 28th of January. It pushes you to ask what really SSNIT wants. Is it the documents that it wants or is it something else.
"That i leave to the public to make their own deductions and conclusions," he stated.
