The Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho has directed the Inspector General of Police to conduct investigation into alleged police brutalities on citizens of Antoa and Kenyase during a demonstration last week.
The residents were demonstrating against poor road network in the area but the police officers opened tear gas in an attempt to disperse the demonstrators.
The angry residents in retaliation were reported to have pelted the police personnel with stones.
There were reports of casualties as both the residents and the police suffered varying degrees of injuries.
Member of Parliament for the area Kofi Frimpong who brought the issue up in Parliament is demanding an enquiry into the issue.
According to him, the police used live bullets in their bid to disperse the crowd.
The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho after hearing the petition from the member ordered the IGP to conduct an investigation into the matter.
Kofi Frimpong later told Joy News the police were ruthless in their action.
According to him some police personnel chased innocent residents to their homes and beat them up for demonstrating.
That behavior, he noted was unacceptable adding, he is ready to assist the IGP with the investigation.
