Residents of Frante in the Ashanti Region have vowed to stop a timber contractor from operating in the area for an alleged breach of trust.
Aggrieved residents, mostly farmers, say Mickypin Ventures has failed to fulfil a commitment to provide the community pipe-borne water and other amenities.
They also accuse the company of destroying farms without paying compensation to affected farmers, and cite their chief for complicity.
The residents have petitioned the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders to stop the company from felling trees in the area.
However, the chief, Nana Owusu Sekyere Boboh III has denied the allegations leveled against him.
He insists the contractor has met all documentary requirements from the appropriate agencies, including Manhyia, to enable him work.
Nana Sekyere Boboh, however, indicates the Asantehene has offered to intervene for amicable settlement of the dispute.

Chief Executive of Mickypin Ventures, Mark Owusu, says the community members have refused to cooperate in resolving the matter.
He accuses the Assemblyman for the area, Kwaku Annor, of inciting residents for personal interest.
Meanwhile, the Ejura-Sekyedumase Police Commander, Superintendent James Annor has advised residents to use appropriate channels to seek redress.
Superintendent James Annor warns police will deal ruthlessly with individuals who perpetrate lawlessness.
Meanwhile, the Assemblyman Kwaku Annor and five others are being investigated for threatening the contractor and unlawfully seizing his property.
