Nigerian rapper, Burna Boy, says he will donate part of the gate proceeds he will receive during his upcoming show in Cape Town to victims of the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The ‘African Giant’ has been marked as one of the musicians to grace the stage though many of the citizens, especially South African musicians, are against it.
Reports from South Africa say some artistes in the country have petitioned the Minister for Arts and Culture to exclude Burna Boy from the Africa Unite concert in the country.
South African rapper AKA and Burna Boy were engaged in a scuffle during the xenophobic attack which saw many Nigerians suffer losses.
Burna Boy threatened to deal with AKA who apparently showing no remorse over the attacks carried out by the South Africans.
Reacting to all of these in a Tweet on social media, Burna Boy said, “the first of the many! Part of the proceeds will be donated to the victims of xenophobic attacks by me1.”
He said, “I really hope we can all keep contributing in our own way to make the world a better and safer place for each other. #Africansunite, it’s bigger than all of us .”
