The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Mr Joe Hackman has called on Christians to set the pace for peace during the electioneering campaign for the 2008 general elections. They should conduct themselves as followers of Christ, who was a peacemaker, in order not to disturb the peace the nation is enjoying. Mr Hackman urged officials who would be entrusted with the conduct of the election to be fair, firm and transparent in their work to enable the results they would declare be acceptable to all. He advised them to let the upheaval following the recent general elections in Kenya be their guide. The MP made the call at a send-off Church Service for Rev. Fr Mensah, Assistant Parish Priest of Apam St Joseph's Catholic Church who has been transferred to the OLA Training College at Cape Coast as Chaplain. Rev Fr Jude Eduafo Ampah, the Parish Priest commended the out-going Priest for his hard work and for initiating the beautification of the Church's premises and urged him to let “the light shine” at his new station. Rev Fr Mensah thanked members of the Parish for their support and cooperation during his three-year stay at Apam and appealed to them to extend the same support to the new Priest who would take over from him. Mr Hackman later donated a set of jerseys and a football to the youth of the Church and requested for a piece of land to be developed into a volley-ball pitch. Source: GNA
