Three Nigerians and three Koreans who had been running a syndicate which had been printing fake US currencies in the country with highly sophisticated equipment, have been busted.Sunny Anwamini (37), the leader of the gang, has admitted before the State Security agencies that he and his colleagues, Paulo and Johnson, had been doing that business for a while now with the Koreans.Anwamini affirmed before the Defence Intelligence of the Ghana Armed Forces that the counterfeited currencies go through incubation before the final products come out.The suspect also admitted that he asked the Koreans to raise several thousands of dollars for the incubation.He said the Korean had assured him that once he (Anwamini) could get the monies to pass through the Kotoka International Airport without being detected, they (Koreans) would be able to off-load them in Korea and start spending them, since people of Korea according to him, are unable to detect counterfeit monies easily.The Nigerian suspect also stated that he was on his way to pick up some money from his Korean counterpart when he was busted by the Ghanaian security agencies.The Crusading GUIDE picked up signals indicating that the suspect was driving a 7-Series BMW saloon car when he was arrested. The car and some of the fake currencies had been handed over to the Greater Accra Regional Police for further investigations.As at press time, The Crusading GUIDE could not confirm whether the Korean counterparts had been busted or not.
