VERSATILE Ghanaian actresses Grace Nortey and Akofa Edjeini Aseidu, recently raised high the flag of Ghana in far away London when they were presented with Builders Appreciation Awards by Nollywood Entertainment Limited, an entertainment company based in the UK, at the Nollywood Film Exhibition/Academy Awards, (also known as the ZAAFI Awards). The two Ghanaians were among several Nigerian film actresses and actors who were honoured for their contribution towards the building of the movie industry on the African continent. The awards to Akofa Aseidu and Grace Nortey added to their already large collection. According to Akofa, the awards provided a further boost to her morale and once again brought her work to the international stage. It was her second international award, the first being an Afro Nollywood Award. Akofa has over her 20 years of acting career received five awards including two ECRAG awards and one GAMA award. She has also been a nominee for an AMAA award. Akofa made her screen debut in 1987 when she featured in the Jagger Pee TV series. The Nollywood Film Exhibition / Academy Awards is aimed a raising African cinema to an international level and to expose hidden African talent. The three day programme featured exhibition of Nollywood films, made in UK and Africa in various cinemas across London.
