The Ghana Police Service is to benefit from a communication gadget that will assist them track lawbreakers.
Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, disclosed this during the inauguration of three different boards to oversee the country’s drive to prioritize information communication technology for job creation.
The boards are the National Communication Authority, Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication and the National Information Technology Agency.
Dr. Omane Boamah says the system will help the security agencies track the identity of rapists without any difficulty.
"If the police is minded to disclose the identity of such individuals, you can easily log on to that web site and it will be easy for you to identify [the offenders].
“The analysis will show that most of the time, the robbers adapt sanctuaries, where there is no telecommunication network such that even when they stopped you, it will be difficult for you to seek help", he noted.
He also said the existing program to send ICT to the country’s prisons must continue to ensure that inmates, who are released from their incarceration, come out with some skills.
"The noble idea of sending IT education to our Prisons must continue. We are not in all the prisons as of now. Within the next three years, let's commit that, at least, we shall cover not less than 70% of the prisons so that when they come out eventually, they would have acquired some skills", Dr. Omane Boamah indicated.
