Clothing retail franchise, Mr Price, has "strongly condemned" the inhumane treatment of three ladies who shoplifted panties at the Accra Mall shop on Monday.
Stuart Bird, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South Africa clothing chain in a statement Thursday, indicated that he was dismayed by the incident.
“We are conducting a thorough internal investigation into this matter as well as awaiting a full accounting from our external security service provider for what happened and appropriate action will be taken”, the statement quoted Mr Bird as saying.
The CEO described as unacceptable and inhumane, the treatment suffered by the three ladies.
“The law must always take its course and the humiliation suffered by the three women was unacceptable. We are a very committed corporate citizen of Ghana and there is absolutely no way we would ever condone the treatment of anyone like this. Irrespective of the fact that the women were shoplifting, we offer our sincere apologies that they were treated in this way by our service provider”.
The video of the ordeal of the three shoplifters which broke on social media has been condemned by human rights activists including the Vice President of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and Legislator, Ursula Owusu.
Two of the ladies are Senior High School graduates while the other is a student of the University of Ghana, Legon.
