The defending Champions, the Pharaohs of Egypt stayed on course with a 2-1 victory over Angola.
They have joined Ghana’s Black Stars, and Ivory Coast’s Elephants for the semi-final stage of the competition.
The match was the third quarter final game at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.
Egypt opened the scoring through a spot kick coolly converted by Hosny but the joy didn’t last as Manucho cracked a long-range ball into the Egyptian net to fetch the equalizer for Angola.
The Pharaohs of Egypt restored their leader despite the promising incursions into their goal area by the Angolans.
In added on time the Angolans had a corner kick that appeared to hold some hope for the Angolans but the delivery was poor and the
Egyptians heaved a sigh of relief.
When it was a minute to go, the Egyptian bench sat on tenterhooks as the Angolans now played more purposely.
But their purpose did not yield any results and there went the referee’s whistle signaling the end of the match.
The Egyptians had the result they wanted to prove they really are the champions.
