Ghana’s former President, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings last Thursday joined the people of South Tongu to celebrate this year’s Independence Day celebrations at the GP Kpota Park in Sogakope.
The former President who is a resident of the district, joined other leading citizens of the district to mark the event which saw a march past of school children drawn from the local Senior High Schools, Primary Schools and cadet corps.
The DCE of South Tongu Samuel Eworyi in his keynote address called on citizens of the area to rededicate their energies towards the success of the country as it celebrates its 57th year of independence.
Awards and trophies were presented to schools that excelled in the march past.
Present at the ceremony were Dr Bernard Glover, a former member of the Council of State and South Tongu MP, Kobby Woyome.
