Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said this year's general election is going to be comparing of the records of the NPP to those of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He said no amount of lies, intimidation and insults would scare the NPP and that the end results after the elections would show that the NPP was far superior.
Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing a mammoth rally at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on Thursday, during a visit to city to formally introduce himself to the people and thank members of the NPP in the region for their assistance to him.
The Presidential candidate, who paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and met the Kumasi Traditional Council, paraded through the principal streets of the Kumasi Metropolis and thanked the people.
Nana Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude to the members and supporters of the party who attended the rally.
He appealed to people without voters' identity cards to avail themselves of the voters' register that would be opened next month to enable them to exercise their franchise on December 7.
Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that the work done by President John Agyekum Kufuor and the NPP party since 2001 to date could not be compared to any political party in the country.
The presidential candidate said if there was unity and love among members of the party, "we can win the election and continue to do what the NDC could not do."
Nana Akufo-Addo said NDC and for that matter, Rawlings could not bring Professor Evans Atta Mills to power but President Kufuor will bring him to power after stepping down next year.
Some of the presidential aspirants who contested with Nana Akufo-Addo in the NPP election to select a presidential candidate took turns to address the rally.
They all indicated that the party was committed to democracy and it behoved members and supporters of the NPP to remain united and campaign in as decent manner for the party to remain in power.
Mr Peter Mac Manu, National Chairman of the party, talked on the election of the upcoming parliamentary elections of the party and called on those who qualify to pick forms and contest when nominations open on March 1, next month, stressing that whoever violates the rules and regulations of the elections would not be spared.
Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Kwabre West hoped all eligible voters would turn out on the election day to vote for the party to have overwhelming victory.
