First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has on behalf of her organization, the Lordina Foundation, presented an ambulance to the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra.
Thursday’s presentation, according to Mrs. Mahama is in response to a request from the hospital and in line with her commitment to improved health service delivery in Ghana.
The only children’s Hhospital in the country, the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital has been conveying emergency cases to other health facilities in public transport.
In her remarks at the presentation ceremony, Mrs. Mahama who is also the National President of the Lordina Foundation urged the Health Ministry to implement policies that will improve efficient service delivery and ethical conduct in the country’s health facilities.
“In the wake of the of the current debate over the quality of healthcare delivery, security at our health facilities and the ethical conduct of our health professionals, I wish to entreat the Ministry of Health the implement policies and decisions that will allow for improved and efficient service delivery and ethical conduct in our hospitals”, she noted.
The Lordina Foundation she stated has been working closely with children over the years, adding that the ambulance will ensure speedy transfer of patients to and from other health facilities.
“I know the President, John Mahama, through the health ministry has a number of plans for the children’s hospital, but I decided to act swiftly on the request put forward by the hospital’s board chairman, Reverend Father Campbell for an ambulance”, the First Lady added.
Mrs. Mahama thanked Prime Metro Properties Limited which supported in the acquisition of the ambulance, and others partners of the Lordina Foundation that continue to support its work across the country.
