President Mahama says despite delays in fixing the poor road networks in some parts of the country, his government is committed to resolving the situation.

He has therefore urged Ghanaians to be patient as regard to the development of roads in their communities.

The President made the comment, when he inspected some ongoing road projects in the Western Region as part of a three-day visit to the region.

He said government will invest heavily in improving the road infrastructure in the region because "the Western Region has become the nodal point for production of oil and gas and so it is necessary for us to upgrades the roads".

Prominent among the road projects the President has been inspecting in the region is the Abidjan-Lagos Transport and Trade Facilitation Project, a 110 Kilometre road between Agona and Elubo.

Outlining the benefits of the project, Presdient Mahama said the Agona-Elubo link road is important because it forms part of the trans-West Africa highway, which is expected to boost trade between Ghana and its western corridor neighbours.

"I am happy that work is progressing and the likelihood that we will complete the project on target is very high", the President said.

The President was therefore hopeful that the project would be completed within ten months.
