The Coalition of Central Regional Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP has condemned Agyeman Kessie, former NPP Chairman for his decision to contest the December elections as an independent parliamentary candidate.Agyeman Kessie is a former NPP Constituency Chairman for the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem constituency and has been sacked from the party following his announcement to contest the seat. According to TESCON Mr Kessie has been moving from one radio station to another throwing dust in the eyes of the public, and also orchestrating a sinister agenda to undermine the Party's prospects of winning the KEEA seat in the elections."This man's action, we are aware, has been borne out of his unfounded claim that the party's parliamentary candidate, Nana Ato Arthur, was imposed on the constituency," the group stated at a press conference last Friday.The press conference was attended by David Adotey and Stephen Luke Dapaah, TESCON Presidents from the University of Education, Winneba, and Cape Coast Polytechnic and Samuel Ampomah and Comfort Twum-Barima, vice president and treasurer, respectively of University of Cape Coast - TESCON.David Adotey who read the press statement regretted that even though Mr Kessie was not prevented from contesting the primaries he has decided to contest the KEEA seat as an independent candidate, an action which is punishable by instant forfeiture of membership of the party."It is instructive to bring to the fore that the dismissal of Mr Agyeman Kessie which was officially announced at a press conference by the constituency executives was not the orchestration of the Regional Minister," the group maintained.In that regard, TESCON described Mr Kessie's recent unwarranted verbal assaults, as well as the threats he issued on the NPP's candidate, as highly irresponsible, while condemning it in no uncertain terms.“If he wants to go independent all that we can say is that he should conduct himself well and refrain from the politics of needless assaults and threats which is not healthy for the consolidation of the nation's democracy.While expressing the hope that he would rescind on his decision the group assured Nana Ato of their support to enable him win the seat.”Source: The Statesman
