One of Ghana’s renowned journalists, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo on Thursday celebrated Joy News' Seth Kwame Boateng for dedicating himself to being the voice of the voiceless.
The former host of Front Page on Joy FM and later Newsfile says the kind of stories journalists like Seth Kwame Boateng report about, are what journalism must be about.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show, the ace journalist said “there are some journalists who are doing some brilliant works"
"I listened to a documentary some few days ago by Seth Kwame Boateng about sickle cell disease. He went into villages and he talked to the real people. He did not just sit in the office and make phone calls,” he said.
Kwaku Sakyi-Addo said it is crucial for journalists to touch base with the people on the ground instead of sitting in their offices and making telephone calls for stories.
Seth Kwame Boateng has for the past two years produced documentaries, some of which captured the headlines in some of the major newspapers in the country.
A documentary he did last year titled “Deformed” generated a national discussion on the plight of babies born with deformities.
Some other documentaries he has produced include “Infertility, Hypertension, Albinism, Domestic Accident” and many more. His latest documentary which touched the heart of Mr. Sakyi-Addo to commend him, is on Sickle Cell.
The first part was aired last week while the second and final part will be aired on Thursday at 8:30am on the Super Morning Show.
