The Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) on Monday expressed its "deepest condolence to the family, staff and the entire student body of Central University College (CUC), on the demise of one of their colleagues through a fatal accident".
25-year-old Business Administration Student, Bernard Nii Agblore died instantly when the vehicle in the SRC executives were traveling in to the main Campus at Miotso, crashed at at Kpone Barrier near Tema, Friday.
Several others sustained various degrees of injury and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
A release issued by GRASAG KNUST President and Public Relations Officer - David Ayimah Mensah and Mustapha Issah - respectively, also called for strict adherence to road traffic regulations because, "there are lives and property at stake".
"In these difficult times, we see this as a big tragedy that has befallen us and we are strongly with you as we mourn our comrade in academia...GRASAG KNUST will take this sad moment to urge students to be steadfast and be strong in the lord," the release added.
In a related development, a Deputy Minister of Education Okudzeto Ablakwa has indicated Government’s preparedness to support victims of the crash.
Mr. Ablakwa, who visited some of the victims on admission at the 37 Military Hospital and the Tema General Hospital over the weekend, promised government would pay their bills.
