Stanbic Bank has presented twelve mobile toilets to the Asuogyaman District Assembly to be situated at Senchi, to serve commuters.
It followed a Joy News' report about the commuters attending to nature's call in the open, due to the long hours they spent there waiting to board the ferry across the Volta river. The toilet to be put up by the Assembly was yet to be opened to the public.
The collaboration by Joy FM and Stanbic Bank had brought relief to the commuters as well as the people there, who for the past two months, had had to cope with the stench, as well as the fear of contracting diseases relating to open defecation.
“Joy, congratulations, Stanbic too, for the great things you are doing,” excited traders stated.
But, before officials sat to plan how to manage the facilities, some persons who claimed to have been employed by the Assembly, had started charging fees for the use of those facilities.
But Communications Manager of Stanbic Bank, Kojo Akoi-Larbi said that would be sorted out.
