The Global Evangelical Church is rolling out campaign to eliminate child pornography in the country.
Newly-inducted Chairman of the Kumasi Presbytery of the church, Reverend Dr. Frank Fugar, says the Global Evangelical church will deploy volunteers to schools to educate students against the canker.
He blames the widespread practice of pornograpy on parents, who have shirked their parental responsibilities in favour of economic activities.
Nhyira Fm's Ohemeng Tawiah reported that the Ejisu police, have in the last two weeks arrested 22 children for watching pornography and as a result, it is currently prosecuting 10 parents for child neglect.
Rev. Fugar therefore appealed to the police to carry out a nationwide clump-down on persons engaged in such acts to rid Ghana of the canker, which has spread through out the country.
"It is part of our mission as a church. So the Global Evangelical Church will take that up [fight against child pornograpy] seriously and educate our people to know the dangers of watching pornography on the internet and other places.
"We need to talk about it until the consciousness is ignited", Rev. Fugar asserted.
The Executive Director of Jupiter Free Counseling Center, Dr. Rosalind Fugar noted that the issue of child exposure to pornography is very worrying.
She therefore called for effective collaboration, especially, among the education ministry, social welfare department and the police to fight the social canker.
Meanwhile, Jupiter Free Counseling Center is the proposed partner of the Global Evangelical Church in the crusade against child pornography.
