In a move to ensure the smooth administration of health care delivery in the Odumase-Atua district in the Eastern Region, Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya Krobo constituency, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, presented office equipments to the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Health Directorate.
The donation was also aimed at encouraging staff of the health directorate, who had previously complained to the Member of Parliament for lack of office equipments.
The office equipments, estimated at more than GH¢8,000, include a heavy duty photocopy machine, LCD projector with a screen and a laptop computer.
Presenting the items, Mr. Terlabi, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Defence, explained that he was touched by the lack of basic office equipment at the health directorate to help staff go about their daily work activities.
He was optimistic the equipments would go a long way to assist in training health officials, who will then impart knowledge onto the constituents.
''This is just a token to kick start whatever processes you want to put in place to get our health delivery in the constituency on track. I believe that one thing that is important so far as health delivery is concerned is education because I believe in preventive health than curative health”, he stressed.
The MP also promised to put up a laundry facility for the Atua Government Hospital, which has been without a laundry facility since its establishment.
He also assured them of his commitment at refurbishing the nurses’ bungalow at Oborpa Health Centre, also in the municipality.
Receiving the donation, the Municipal Health Director, Mrs..Irina Offei, expressed appreciation to the MP for the gesture.
''It is a great privilege to have received these equipments. In fact the office has been handicapped for some time now with the LCD projector, photocopier and others, so it will help in health delivery and to reduce our bills that we have been paying to [make] photocopy and all that”, Mrs. Offei said.
In his bid to acquaint himself with the health facilities in the municipality, the MP inspected a CHIPS compound at Yokwenor, which is under his sponsorship.
Mr. Terlabi therefore promised to complete the facility for the smooth commencement of health delivery in the area.
