VGMA Artiste of the Year 2014, Shatta Wale, has been trying to appease his fans, who are peeved that he boycotted the awards ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre Saturday.
The enthusiastic fans, who had attended the event to watch Shatta Wale perform, were shocked that he did not show up.
But the self-acclaimed 'Dance Hall King in the whole Ghana' has explained that he stayed away from the show in protest at the unfair treatment being meted out to Ghanaian artistes by the organisers, CharterHouse.
Ghanaian artistes, he said, have not been given the respect and recognition that they deserve.
According to him, CharterHouse refused to pay the Ghc70,000 he demanded as fee for performing at the show, but was willing to spend thousands of dollars on artistes from other countries.
Shatta Wale made this known on Facebook.
After the show, however, Shatta Wale appeared at the Conference Centre to celebrate with his fans.
