Two new large football stadiums will soon be built in Cameroon, one in Yaounde and the other in Douala.
The President of the world soccer governing body, FIFA, Joseph Blatter, announced this on Tuesday after an audience with the Cameroonian President Paul Biya.
He told the press that he discussed with Mr Biya prospects of football in Cameroon and the building of two large stadiums in Yaoundé and Douala, in addition to three medium-size stadia in other cities, ahead of the CAF 2019 African Cup of Nations.
He hoped that the Cameroonian football will get off to a good start again, expressing the hope to see the Cameroonian national team perform well during the World Cup next June in Brazil.
Blatter is in Cameroon to take part in the inauguration of the first CAF Football Centre of Excellence located in the town of Mbankomo, 25 km from the capital, Yaounde.
On the sidelines of the inauguration of the Centre in Mbankomo, Blatter is billed to visit some existing football stadia in the country to assess their conditions.
Cameroon is among bidders to host the 2019 AFCON.
