Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has joined the global campaign, to help bring back about two hundred Nigerian school girls abducted in Northern Nigeria by Islamist militant group, Boko Haram.

U.S. military officials arrived in Nigeria Friday to help in the search for the abducted school girls.

Security chiefs of ECOWAS are also expected to meet in Accra to strategize on how to deal with the Boko Haram threat in the sub-region.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Ansah Kwaw IV on Multi TV, ahead of Mother’s Day, Mrs. Rawlings said the Nigerian government and ECOWAS must quicken the process of getting the girls back from the control of the Islamist militant group.

"It is such a grave situation. My heart is going out to them. I think, it is really grievously our fault as adults, to let such a thing happen to children. Let us all pray for them even as we think of how best we can bring our minds to encourage our leaders to help bring these girls back.

"It is just incredible that this can happen. It should not happen on this continent. Bring back our girls", the former First Lady stressed.

The global campaign has seen professionals and celebrities displaying the hash tag "Bring Back Our Girls", in apparent demand for the missing Nigerian school girls, who had been abducted for about a month now, by the Islamist militant group.
