One person was Friday night shot dead at close range in Ashtown Kumasi by an unknown assailants.
Eyewitnesses say five men in a taxi cab accosted the victim at a drinking spot and in the ensuing confrontation, one of the men pointed a gun to the head of the deceased and fired.
Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor reported the victim, who has only been identified as Antwi, 34, was rushed to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after the bullet pierced through his head. He died shortly after.
The identities of the five are not immediately known and the reason for the confrontation is yet to be ascertained.
According to Asare Donkor the police have begun investigations into the matter.
Residents have meanwhile expressed apprehension over the recent spate of gun related killings in the area.
It is the second of such cold blooded murder in the area in six months.
The residents are asking for drinking spots in the area to be closed down claiming such areas have become fertile for such violent acts.
