Anti-corruption campaigner Vitus Azeem says Ghanaians must be worried about the latest controversy in which Subah has been awarded a contract to provide motorbikes for Ghana's street naming project.
The IT firm and its sister company, Street Naming Company Ltd, all said to be owned by the Jospong group of companies, won the contract to provide motorbikes and other office machines for the national street naming exercise.
Concerns have been raised about how an IT Firm would win a contract to supply motorbikes.
A letter emanating from the Local Government ministry and intercepted by Joy News asked all Regional Ministers to liaise with Subah Info Solutions Limited which has been tasked to supply motorbikes for the street naming exercise.
The Deputy Local Government Minister Baba Jamal later confirmed to Joy News that Subah won the bid through competitive bidding process.
He said all the procurement processes were followed before the IT firm was given the contract.
Baba Jamal who was not sure of the precise contract sum said the deal was hovering around 5 to 6 million cedis.
With Subah already in the middle of another scandal in the famous call data monitoring incident with the Ghana Revenue Authority, critics are wondering how it won another controversial contract to supply motorbikes.
Speaking to Joy News Vitus Azeem said the deal is questionable.
He said if government claims Subah won the bid through competitive bidding process it must be able to show where and when bids were advertised and which companies sent in their bid.
Even more worrying to him was the fact that Subah an IT company won the bid to provide motorbike, a deal which appeared to be outside their core functions as a company.
"We should be concerned. When you register a company you state what you plan to do with the company," he stated, hinting that supply of logistics, including motorbikes was not part of the advertised services advertised by Subah at the Registrar's General Department.
"People should be worried" he noted.
Mr Azeem also raised issues about why Subah should be awarded another contract when a previous one it won has been tainted with allegations of corruption.
