The Electricity Company of Ghana has apologized for not communicating its inability to stick to a load management plan, in effect, hurting businesses and infuriating customers.

"I am accepting responsibility for not informing our customers when they should go off", Public Relations Manager Dan Adjei Larbi put up a brave face on Joy FM's Super Morning Show Wednesday.

Ghanaians have come to believe, power will not be constant as the country struggles to find $4billion funding to end the nagging power problems for good.

As a result of this, Ghanaians have been living on a power rationing plan for the past two years. This plan allowed businesses to prepare for power cuts and adopt measures to contain its negative impact. It also injected some level of consistency in household planning for electricity consumption.

But this plan has been abandoned without warning, leaving in its wake, tales of consumers infuriated by the inconvenience. Business owners led by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) have been pleading with government for consistent power or else their enterprises will fold up.

Quick to brace public frustrations, the Public Relations manager of ECG offered to accept responsibility although the Volta River Authority has not supplied ECG enough power to distribute.

"Let me apologise and accept the fact that the end-user have a contract with ECG...and they have every right to demand answers from ECG", Dan Adjei Larbi offerred.

The VRA which generates power has been facing problems with some faulty power plants which they explain  is currently undergoing repair works. The maintenance work has left the country short of 300 megawatts needed to maintain a consistent load schedule.

Dan Adjei Larbi said he  does not expect the shortage of power from VRA to last.

He has promised that as far as ECG was concerned the company was "ready to publish another load shedding guide" as soon as it gets power from VRA
