Ashanti Gold and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will represent Ghana in next year’s CAF Champions league competition after both sides won yesterday.
Accra Hearts of Oak failed to keep up the pace with the two teams after they drew goalless with RTU in Tamale. Ashgold won 2-0 at home against Real Sportive and Kotoko were 2-0 away winners over Power FC at the Ho Park.
Ashanti Gold tops the One Touch Premier League chart with 22 points with Kotoko in second place on 21 points. Kotoko CEO Sylvester Asare Owusu told Joy Sports that the club had set its sight on claiming the first spot by the 12th week when the representatives are to be declared.
Tema Youth, Liberty Professionals and Hearts of Oak are left to compete for the two Confederation Cup spots. Hearts dropped to 5th place after their draw, and a win in their next game could secure a place in the first four.
Tema Youth who beat King Faisal 2-0 at the Tema Park on Saturday are in third place on 17 points, but need another win to earn a place in the top 4. Liberty Professionals could also make it into the top 4, after they won 2-1 away at Bofoakwa Tano.
In other matches, Feyenoord recorded their second home win of the season after beating Berekum Arsenals 1-0 at Swedru while Sekondi Hasaacas drew 1-1 with Gamba All Blacks at the Gyandu Park and Great Olympics drew goalless with Heart of Lions at the Ho Park on Saturday.
