As part of the Government 4 the People (G4P) Forum initiative by the Ministry of Communications, a public forum was yesterday held in the Upper East Regional capital of Bolgatanga where a number of issues of national importance were discussed.
The Forum which took place at the Catholic Social Centre touched on issues ranging from Roads and Security, to Water, Job creation and the Economy.
The chiefs and people of the Upper East Region who turned up in their numbers, had the opportunity bring their challenges before the government officials led by Deputy Communications Minister Ato Sarpong, to enable government fine tune its policies towards the region.
The team also inspected a Regional Innovation Centre (RIC) being put up at Navrongo which is at about 75% completion and an e - immigration project at the Ghana Immigration Service border post in Paga, where Mr. Sarpong urged the officers to utilise the platform once completed to enhance border security and data collation.
He encouraged the men to remain resolute in the discharge of their duties and assured them of Government's commitment to retooling the Service.
The Team also inspected the Regional Innovation Centre for the Northern Region situated in Tamale. Work on the project is 90% complete and the team urged the contractor to complete by the end of the year.
The Ministry of Communications & Media Relations is currently constructing 10 RICs and hopes to commission them by the end of the year.
The RICs form a part of Government's commitment to improving human capital in Information Communications Technology, ensuring Internet penetration across the country and opening up job opportunities for the youth in ICT.
The team is made up of the Upper East Regional Minister, John Tiga Zigah, Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Muniru, Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Daniel Syme, Deputy Communications Minister, Ato Sarpong, Deputy Interior Minister, James Agalga (MP), Deputy Roads & Highways Minister, Isaac Mensah (MP), Deputy Water Resources, Works & Housing Minister, Johnny Osei Kofi, Presidential Staffers James Agyenim-Boateng and Samuel Nartey George and the procurement specialist at the Ministry of Communications, Rebecca Okai.
The next G4P forum will be held in the Upper West Regional capital of Wa on Thursday, 30th October 2014 at the GNAT Hall from 10 am.
