Ghana once again is set to come alive with excitement as youthful sensation, George ‘Red Tiger’ Ashie steps up against Uganda’s Allan Kamote for the Interim WBO Africa Lightweight title.

This fight night code-named “Fist of Fury” bout is collaboration between McDon Promotions and Box Office Promotions who staged the famous Bukom Banku vs Ayittey Powers bill on May 16.

At a press conference on Tuesday in Accra, Ashie believes his will to become a world champion is still on course and committed to doing exactly that to make Ghanaians happy.

“I have watched Allan Kamote’s fights on youtube and he is obviously a good boxer, knowing that he has fought for a world title before. But I will defeat him to prove I am the better boxer. I am training very hard and I will deliver on December 5,” he told  Joy Sports

Ashie now holds a record of 24 wins, four losses and a draw making up his professional record and fights out of the Attoh Quarshie gym in Accra.

He debuted as a professional 11 years ago on the then Mortein Professional boxing league in Accra, when after a loss drove onto a seven-bout winning streak.

His opponent Kamote, 32, hails from Tanga, in Tanzania, currently holds the UBO lightweight belt which he won in March this year. Out of his 36 bouts and  has won 25 lost seven and drawn four. His biggest opportunity to penetrate the high ranks in world boxing was fluffed when he lost to Napapol Sor Rungvisai – one that cost him the annexation of the WBC International lightweight title in 2004.

The Tanzanian has, however been a dominant force in his region, having annexed the East and Central African lightweight title two years ago.

McDon Promotions in collaboration with Alex Ntiamoah  had to put the  bout together as it was done in the Banku and Powers match  and the two promoters  believe this bout will also get the crowd at the stadium

“We are promoters and we must promote fights so when one doesn’t work the other must definitely come off. I am partnering with Alex Ntiamoah to give Ghanaians what will be an unforgettable night of boxing,” McDon said.

Other bouts on the bill will see Ghana’s flag bearer at the 2012 Olympic Games, Maxwell Amponsah and Emmanuel Tetteh slug out for the WBF Africa Light heavyweight title.

Welterweights Patrick Allotey and  Isaac Aryee clash over 10 rounds while Olympian, Prince ‘Octopus’ Dzanie fights Michael Barnor for the West African and National Bantamweight title.

The Fist of Fury night will be broadcast live on DSTV Super Sport. Meanwhile, Ashie is asking for prayers from all religious leaders – Christian, Muslim and traditional worshipers.
