The First deputy speaker of Parliament Ebo Barton Oduro is asking local authorities not to issue building permits to developers unless their designs are disability friendly.
He made the suggestion in a statement read in Parliament to mark the International Day for persons with disability.
Parliamentary correspondent Elton Brobbey says not all places in Parliament is disability friendly.
According to him, people with disability will have problems accessing the main entrance of Parliament.
However, there is a private entry for MPs, journalists and other officers of Parliament and that place is disability friendly, he added.
Joy News' Francis Abban had a day out with Isaac Tuggun a physically-challenged person to find out how persons like him cope with the rather disability unfriendly environment in Ghana.
Isaac Tuggon said to step out of his house is even a problem because his door step is disability unfriendly. He has asked his land lord to do a miniature ramp for him to facilitate his movement in and out of his own room.
On two occasions when the lights went off, he had terribly fallen on the ground and sustained serious injuries as a result.
In their situation, many commercial vehicles, particularly the 'tro-tro' are so much in a hurry and do not want to pick the disabled persons who are considered to be too slow, he stated.
Even on some occasions, taxi drivers also avoid them, he lamented.
He said the situation has dire financial implications on their already depleted pockets.
