Police in Tamale have set up a 24 hour security at the Tamale Residence of former NDC vice chair Alhaji Hudu Yahaya.
This follows intelligence that some youth are planning to burn down the property in protest over his decision to pull out of the NDC chairmanship race.
Hudu Yahya pulled out of the Chairmanship race at the last hour during the Congress to elect new NDC national executives, a move that surprised a number of his supporters.
It appears his support base in Tamale are unhappy with the decision and are plotting to raze down his residence.
Northern Region Police PRO ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the men are still stationed at his residence.
"We stationed men there since Saturday when information came through that some people were planning to burn the house of Alhaji Hudu Yahya following his decision to withdraw from the race," he stated.
He said until they have a contrary information, the men will still be stationed there.
Nobody has yet been arrested for the plot, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed.
He added the police will also seek personal protection for the former Vice Chair in the event he pays a visit to Tamale.
Alhaji Hudu Yahya is yet to comment on the matter. He is expected to release an official statement, Joy News has learnt.
