A warehouse of chain-store operators, Melcom, at the North Industrial Area in Accra was Saturday gutted by fire.
Joy News' Naa Deide Tetteh, who was at the fire scene, reports caretakers as saying, the fire started at dawn.
She said fire tenders battled the fire whilst police officers parked at safe distances ostensibly to prevent looting and maintain security in the area.
Not much may be salvaged from the mainly electronic warehouse, she said.
Citifmonline.com reports staff of the company as alleging that even though "they called the fire service when it started, they only arrived after 6am."
The cause of the fire is not yet ascertained.
But it is suspected to be down to electrical faults.
Naa Deide said more than five hours after firefighters arrived at the scene, they have yet to bring the inferno under control.
A thick cloud of smoke is billowing across the entire Industrial Area, she reported.
