The Komla Dumor Memorial Foundation has endorsed the proposal to organize an open forum on Media and Governance as it prepares to mark the first anniversary of the death of the former Joy FM/BBC journalist.
The proposal, which was made by former professional colleagues and family of the Late Komla Afeke Dumor, has also received the backing of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
A statement by the Foundation said the Forum which will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015, at the International Press Centre, will highlight Komla Dumor’s passion for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.
The former host of the Super Morning Show on Joy FM died on January 18, 2014 in his London home, after presenting his “Focus on Africa” programme on the BBC the day before.
Komla Dumor was widely regarded as a leading light of African journalism, determined to tell the true story of Africa. He was very passionate about telling the story of a continent that was rapidly changing and taking its rightful place in the world.
A memorial service will be held at the Holy Spirit Cathedral at Adabraka in Accra, on Saturday, January 17.
