The Health Ministry has received drug and pharmaceutical donations from a public institution following the Central Medical Stores fire disaster..
The Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry on Thurday donated over 80 boxes of pharmaceuticals to three health facilities in Obuasi, in Ashanti Region.
Kumasi-based Luv FM's Prince Appiah says Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi, Kwasi Boadi-Agyemang presented the Gender Ministry's drugs donation to the health facilities.
The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana this called on pharmaceutical companies and other instutions to donate essential medicines to support the state to mitigate the impact of the fire that ravaged the country's drugs warehouse to facilitate provision of health care in the country.
Also, the Ghana Chamber of Pharmacy on Monday also said it would assist government to address the challenges that may arise from the recent fire outbreak at the Tema drugs store house.
The Chamber has also pledged to put at government’s disposal its technical expertise and other material resources to enable the country to meet short-falls in medical supplies should an emergency situation arise.
The Central Medical Stores, where the country stores all its essential drugs for public health facilities went up in flames last week.
Drugs worth millions of Ghana cedis went up in flames.
Arson have been suspected as the Bureau of National Investigations look into the cause of the inferno.
So far ten health officials have been arrested while two others have been interdicted.
