Member of Parliament for the Anlo constituency and a former Minister for Food and Agriculture has blamed needless land disputes and litigation as one of the factors hampering development in the Anlo Constituency.
Clement Kofi Humado lamented the difficulty of accessing and acquiring land for developmental projects, which he says do not create fertile ground for investors to explore the vast economic potential of the Anlo Traditional area.
Mr Humado recounted a number of failed projects which stalled as a result of litigations, and bemoaned the impact of the undesirable actions on the lives of the people.
‘’Any time you want to start a project, so many families come to claim the land. There are cases in the court now fifteen years unresolved. So we are unable to develop the land to generate livelihood and employment, especially for our youth.’’
He said the area could be a commercial hub if landowners desist from such practises by willingly giving out lands for investments. Mr Humado however called on Traditional Authorities to come together in working out a lasting solution to the problem.
He made the call at the maiden social accountability forum organised by the Keta Municipal Assembly.
