Presiding Bishop of the Perez Chapel International Charles Agyinasare has sent his heartfelt felicitation to the CEO and the entire Multimedia family on the occasion of their 20th Anniversary.
In a statement, Bishop Charles Agyinasare said “20 years signifies redemption” and applauded the Multimedia family for being torchbearers in what has now become the private broadcasting in Ghana.
Before 1995, the ownership of the media regime was limited to the state with no private participation.
It was difficult, almost impossible for private participation to be allowed at the time but through the persistence and visionary leadership of the CEO Kwasi Twum, a new private radio station-Joy FM- was birthed in 1995 and has since grown into a media empire with several other radio, TV and online platforms.
Bishop Agyinasare likened the situation of the Multimedia Group to biblical Jacob and his family and the struggles they went through.
“For 20 years Jacob waited to get possession of his wives and property and to be freed from the control of Laban and his father-in-law. (Genesis 31:38-41). For 20 years the children of Israel waited to be freed from Jabin, King of Canaan who oppressed them. God response was to raise up Deborah and Barak, who freed the people from bondage (Judges 4-5).
“20 years signifies REDEMPTION. 20 years ago Multimedia started when all thought it was impossible but you persevered and paved the way to private broadcasting. Multimedia has been a beacon, a pacesetter for daring to take your place as the fourth Estate of the realm and ensuring that the people of Ghana have access to news, politics, religion, entertainment, sports and an awareness of what is relevant in our society,” the statement said.
Bishop Agyinasare charged the Multimedia family to “expand” and “move to another level.”
Multimedia has planned a number of activities to mark the Anniversary with a mega gospel show to be headlined by a famous international gospel artiste.
