An aspiring NDC Parliamentarian for Tafo/Pankrono has asked government to convert the Asokore Mampong affordable housing project site, into an isolation centre.
Sahmudeen Mohammed Kamil indicated that the move would be prudent in such a critical moment of fighting Covid-19.
He wants individuals to continue to support the government in its effort to halt the spread of the pandemic.
The University for Development Studies-trained Chemist was speaking to JoyNews after a meeting with staff of Tafo Government Hospital.
The meeting followed a donation of PPEs support items to the hospital to aid in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and routine healthcare delivery to Ghanaians.
As confirmed cases of Covid-19 rise in Kumasi, Mr Kamil suggested the government convert Asokore Mampong Affordable Housing Project in Ashanti Region into an isolation centre.
"I think that government should do that immediately," he said.
The Ashanti Region has recorded 25 cases of the virus with two deaths.
But Regional Health directorate has identified five hotspots communities where there might be suspected cases of the virus.
Mr Kamil noted the earlier the facility is made available, the better for everyone adding that “else it will take the country by surprise.”
He also wants the government to pay particular attention to underprivileged and security personnel deployed to enforce its directives.
Mr Sahmudeen said their safety is crucial to the protection of lives.
"That's why we donated some of the PPEs to Tafo/Pankrono Divisional Police Command."
