The vice President's wife, Samira Bawumia has charged orphanages to collaborate with the Scholarship Secretariat to ensure that brilliant but orphaned children further their education while in orphanages.
She made the call during a visit on behalf of the Samira Bawumia Foundation to the Countryside Orphanage at Awutu Bawdjiase in the Awutu West Constituency on World Book Day on 23rd April 2020.

Mrs. Bawumia, impressed with the work of the orphanage, said there was the need for orphans to have equal access to opportunities available to all children in the country.

The Samira Bawumia Foundation presented books and various food items to the orphanage assuring that she would be visiting more often.
