Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed some foreign nationals have been evacuated from Ghana.
It follows a request from the foreign missions to have their residents returned home.
''Some of the missions have organised chattered flights; requested for special permit which we have granted them to evacuate their nationals," he said.
Government on March 22, 2020 shut all its borders as part of measures instituted to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
President Akufo-Addo through an Executive Instrument extended the directive to May 31, 2020, subject to review.
As government continues to gradually ease the restrictions imposed on the country, Mr Nkrumah is encouraging embassies and high commission to liaise with government in making arrangements to evacuate foreign nationals out of Ghana.
He also revealed government is making special arrangement in receiving Ghanaians deported from an Arabian country.
Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in March this year demanded that government evacuates Ghanaians from countries affected by COVID-19 pandemic but Mr Nkrumah who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi indicated that the various missions are still collating data to enable the state take a decision.
