The University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale has introduced strict surveillance at various entries of the campus to ensure the all the Covid-19 protocols are observed.
Speaking to Joy News, the School’s Registrar, Dr A. B. T. Zakaria said thermometer guns, hand washing equipment have been provided at all the entries.
“We have given strict instruction to our staff at the main gate and all the several entries that leads to various parts of the school. They are also to insist that those coming in are in their face masks at all times,” he said.
For social distancing to be observed, Dr Zakaria disclosed that the University will be accommodating one student in a room.
He further added that measures are underway to identify paired students who live outside the campus and relocate one to the university hotel.
“We have decided to implement all the protocols to the very letter. We know we might have problems with the students because generally students are difficult.
“But fortunately for us, we can see that the student themselves are concerned about the disease and the few people around are obeying the measures so the few that will be difficult, we will ensure they abide by the rules,” he stated.
On the part of the student, one expressed concern over the low compliance of the wearing of face masks in Tamale.
Another also indicated that with the rapid increase of Covid-19 cases in the country, she is nervous about coming back to school.
“My children are at home and not going to school. But I had to leave them and come and stay here. But you know with the e-learning too, parents have to be there to supervise them,” she said.
